RATIONALE

The increasing sophistication of quantitative research has significantly transformed the expectations placed upon faculty members, thesis advisers, dissertation panelists, and research mentors. With the growing adoption of advanced statistical techniques such as predictive modeling, causal inference, multivariate regression, and structural equation modeling (SEM), academic advisers are expected not only to evaluate statistical outputs but also to provide sound methodological guidance throughout the research process.

Despite these advancements, many quantitative research studies continue to suffer from methodological weaknesses arising from inappropriate research designs, inadequate sample size determination, improper interpretation of statistical analyses, and violations of statistical assumptions. Furthermore, misconceptions between predictive and causal research designs often lead to inaccurate conclusions, while insufficient attention to research integrity practices—such as selective reporting, p-hacking, and inadequate transparency—reduces the quality and publishability of scholarly work.

As higher education institutions continue to strengthen their research productivity and pursue publication in internationally indexed journals, there is an increasing need to capacitate research advisers and panel members with updated competencies in advanced quantitative research methodologies and statistical evaluation. Effective mentorship now requires a deeper understanding of model diagnostics, statistical power analysis, research ethics, and global reporting standards beyond traditional hypothesis testing.

This specialized training is designed to enhance the competencies of faculty members, graduate advisers, research panelists, statisticians, and researchers in evaluating quantitative research using contemporary statistical methodologies and internationally accepted research standards.

The training aims to strengthen participants' capacity to critically assess quantitative research designs, provide evidence-based methodological recommendations, standardize statistical evaluation during proposal and oral defenses, and mentor students toward producing rigorous, ethical, and publication-ready research.

The training-workshop aims to:

1. Differentiate Methodological Requirements for Causal and Predictive Quantitative Research Designs. Develop the ability to distinguish between correlational, predictive, and causal research frameworks and provide appropriate methodological guidance on selecting research designs, statistical techniques, and analytical approaches suitable for different research objectives.
2. Standardize Evaluation Criteria for Statistical Assumptions and Model Quality. Strengthen competencies in evaluating quantitative studies by critically assessing statistical assumptions, regression diagnostics, model fit indices, and overall methodological rigor to ensure the validity and reliability of research findings.
3. Formulate Evidence-Based Advising Strategies for Sample Size Determination and Statistical Power. Equip participants with practical skills in conducting and interpreting statistical power analysis and scientifically justified sample size estimation to improve the quality, precision, and credibility of quantitative research.
4. Promote Research Integrity and International Reporting Standards in Quantitative Research. Develop the capacity to mentor researchers in implementing transparent, ethical, and internationally recognized statistical reporting practices by emphasizing effect sizes, confidence intervals, open science principles, and responsible data analysis to enhance publication readiness.

Our trainer currently serves as the Director of the Research Development and Publication Office (RDPO) and Head of Institutional Accreditations at Jose Maria College Foundation, Inc. A committed academic leader and scholar, he holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Development Research and Administration from the University of Southeastern Philippines and multiple master's degrees in Corporate Management, Economics, and Predictive Analytics from institutions in the Philippines and Australia. His educational background is firmly rooted in multidisciplinary learning, allowing him to lead research initiatives that intersect data science, social policy, and educational innovation.

He is a prolific researcher with more than 30 publications in Scopus-, Web of Science-, ASEAN Science Citation-indexed and international peer-reviewed journals, covering a wide range of topics such as macroeconomic forecasting, data-driven education management, financial behavior, and applied machine learning. As a data analyst and public intellectual, he has been actively engaged in government-funded research projects, including those supported by DOST-PCIEERD and CHED. He also serves as a consultant for local government units, higher education institutions, and regional development councils, contributing to research-based policymaking and institutional performance measurement.

Finally, he regularly speaks in national and international conferences on data analytics, research ethics, scholarly publishing, and accreditation systems. He leads capacity-building initiatives across institutions and advocates for the use of open-source statistical tools to democratize research accessibility. As a mentor to both faculty and students, he remains dedicated to fostering a research culture that is ethical, innovative, and responsive to the evolving demands of 21st-century education and governance.

REGISTRATION FEE

The regular registration fee is 6,500.00 PHP inclusive of two days lunches, AM and PM snacks, training Kits, ID and certificates. The organizer will not be shouldering the accommodation of each participant since the training is in a live-out arrangement. A list of hotels will be provided as guidance to the participants reflecting the hotel address and contact information, estimated rate per night, and proximity to the hotel venue.
