RATIONALE

Many faculty members completing their graduate studies possess valuable research in their theses and dissertations that hold significant potential for publication in scholarly journals. However, the process of transforming these extensive academic works into concise, publishable articles and navigating the landscape of high-impact journals can be challenging.

This webinar is designed to bridge that gap, providing academic professionals, particularly university and college faculty, with the essential skills and knowledge to effectively convert their graduate research into publishable articles and to strategically approach high-impact journal publication. Given the increasing emphasis on research output and scholarly dissemination in academia, this training aims to demystify the publication process, from re-framing research for journal submission to understanding peer review and responding to reviewers. By the end of the webinar, participants will be adept at applying these techniques to enhance their research dissemination efforts, thereby contributing to the advancement of knowledge in their respective fields.

OBJECTIVES

  1. Understand the Fundamentals of Article Conversion. Provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of how to transform a thesis/dissertation into a concise, publishable journal article, including key considerations for re-framing research questions and findings.
  2. Learn Strategies for High-Impact Journal Selection. Introduce various methods and criteria for identifying and selecting appropriate high-impact journals, ensuring participants can choose the best outlet for their research.
  3. Master Manuscript Preparation and Formatting. Equip participants with the skills to prepare and format manuscripts according to journal guidelines, including abstract writing, keyword selection, and ethical considerations.
  4. Navigate the Peer Review Process. Train participants on understanding the peer review process, effectively responding to reviewer comments, and revising manuscripts for resubmission.
  5. Develop a Publication Strategy. Guide participants on how to create a long-term publication plan, including managing multiple submissions and understanding publication ethics.
