With transparent and reproducible methods, an excellent systematic review acts as the most reliable source of evidence in guiding researchers establish the state of existing knowledge. Systematic review uses scientific and explicit methods to identify, select, summarize and analyze findings of often similar but separate research studies. With an ever-increasing plethora of published studies, how can one make a high-quality systematic review as thesis/disseration which can be published in reputable journals?

Developing the research capabilities of every researcher through skills development, the Asian Society of Teachers for Research, Inc. holds the Webinar on Best Practices in Writing a Systematic Review as a Thesis/Dissertation on September 16-18, 2022 (1:00 pm- 5:00 pm Philippine Standard Time, daily) via ZOOM Teleconferencing with resource speaker, Prof. Andrea B. Martinez of the University of the Philippines and Kings College London.

Webinar Objectives:

  • describe the emerging trend of systematic review as a publishable paper;
  • learn the techniques of systematic review as a thesis/dissertation;
  • register the systematic review protocol in Cochrane and other repositories; and,
  • publish the systematic review.

The participant should have a mobile phone/laptop, stable internet connectivity and ZOOM account to participate in this Webinar. The Webinar will run from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm for three days. A separate Webinar Outline is attached for your perusal.

All files including powerpoint presentations (PPTs), forms, materials, and how-tos will be made available to the participants during and after the Webinar proper.

You will receive three certificates for the Training-Workshop: Certificate of Completion, Attendance and Participation. All certificates will be digital and sent through email. Should you wish for a physical copy, a minimal amount of shipping fee will be shouldered by the participant.

Resource Speaker Bionote

Prof. Andrea B. Martinez
University of the Philippines-Manila
King’s College London

Professor Andrea Martinez is an assistant professor at the Department of Behavioral Science in the University of the Philippines Manila. She finished her bachelor’s degree in behavioral science in UP Manila, and her master’s degree in special education in UP Diliman. She obtained her master’s in philosophy and is a PhD Psychology candidate at King’s College London.

She serves in various capacities as consultant and member of the board of trustees in various non-government organizations and government agencies for children, women, and social welfare.

Her research interests dealt with issues on mental health and help-seeking behavior, violence against women and children, self-harm behavior and drug use, most notable of which include the national baseline study on violence against children and the online child sexual abuse and exploitation study, both funded by the UNICEF. She is also part of the research advisory group of Plan International and UNICEF for action research on changing social norms for online child sexual abuse and exploitation.

She was awarded Gawad Chancellor award for public service in 2017 and One UP Faculty Award in public service in 2016 and 2018.
