Training-Workshop on Statistics for Research Teaching, Advising, and Paneling
April 29-May 1, 2026
Cebu Castle Peak Hotel, Cebu City, Philippines
A complex ecosystem where statistical reasoning, computational tools, and AI-assisted analysis converge, the role of statistics has evolved from a purely technical discipline into a central pillar of research teaching, advising, and paneling. The emergence of artificial intelligence (AI), coupled with the widespread availability of open-source statistical software, has fundamentally transformed how research is designed, analyzed, interpreted, and critiqued. Research teachers rely on statistical frameworks to help students formulate hypotheses, design appropriate methodologies, and select analytical techniques aligned with their research questions. Advisers, on the other hand, function as methodological mentors who ensure that statistical procedures are applied correctly and ethically throughout the research process. Meanwhile, panelists must possess the analytical acuity to evaluate whether statistical analyses are appropriate, whether assumptions have been met, and whether interpretations are valid. Requiring a deeper integration of statistical literacy with technological fluency, how can research teachers, advisers, and panelists guide students navigate this AI-driven research environment?
Aiming to strengthen statistical proficiency of research teachers, advisers, and panelists in research defense interpellation, the Asian Society of Teachers for Research, Inc. holds the Training-Workshop on Statistics for Research Teaching, Advising and Paneling on April 29-May 1, 2026 at the Castle Peak Hotel, Cebu City, Philippines!
OBJECTIVES OF THE TRAINING-WORKSHOP
- To strengthen faculty competence in teaching statistical concepts and research data interpretation effectively;
- To learn the practical application of statistical methods using open-source software;
- To guide students in the selection of appropriate statistical tests aligned with research design and variables; and
- To critically evaluate the role of AI applications and tools in streamlining statistical analysis as teachers, advisers and panelists.
